Paw Paw

Recently Martha Stewart's dog Paw Paw passed away. I don't normally read her blog but for some reason I did that day. Her entry included a lot of pictures of Paw Paw spanning from the week before he died to the day he did die. The last photo really creeped me out because it shows Paw Paw dead and wrapped up like a present before his burial while Stewart's Frenchies smell him. I am all for making his transition into the earth lovely but this just gives me chills.

Paw Paw waiting for burial

I dread the day when I have to wrap Mojo, Gussy or Jack up like a present and bury them. Then again I am more of a cremation person. What about you? Cremation or burial for your beloved pet?

Mojo's Identity Crisis

Another lovely note from our dog walker:

"Marshmallows? I never give any of my dogs treats only love. And sometimes I kick them."

I really hope he meant he sometimes kisses them!

Yesterday Mojo came to work with Mommy. We are on a catalog deadline but we needed to relieve some stress so we put a pink tutu on Mojo. He was quite the sport. Eddie Izzard, eat your heart out!

I like how the pink pops against his chocolate fur.

Mojo's sweatshirt says "Rock Star", the pink tutu gives it a punk feel ...heehee!

Mojo On the Road ... to Recovery

Sadly, this is not an April Fools joke. If it was a joke then I wouldn't be crying at the vet bill. Let me preface this story of woe with the following statement: Mojo HATES having his nails trimmed. We have been kicked out of Petco, he has drawn blood and I have shed tears trying to trim his nails. As of late his nails have grown too long and are way overdue for a trimming.

On Friday I was eating my lunch outside when Mojo jumped from my lap. No biggie, he looked fine so I continued eating. Ten minutes later I look down and there is blood under the table. When Mojo jumped down he had split one of his overgrown nails down the middle and hit the quick. He didn't seem to be in pain and he was walking fine so I thought he was all good.

Saturday afternoon I noticed Mojo had started limping. I thought "oh, he is tough, he will shake it off and all will be well in the world." WRONG! The limping continued all day Sunday and into Monday. So, yesterday Mojo and I paid a visit to the vet. Mojo is now sporting a nice bandage and was given pain killers. He will have to go back two more times for new bandages. We need to wait until the nail grows in enough for them to cut the dead part off ... lovely! The vet attempted to give Mojo a pedicure and he was only able to do 3 out of 4 legs...oye!

During said vet visit it was also determined Mojo may be allergic to his dog food. Starting in January Mojo became an obsessive licker. Most times his feet are missing fur and a bit scabbed. Turns out this is a sign of a food allergy. So for the next ten weeks Mojo's diet has been heavily modified to include ground turkey, rice, raw carrots and marshmallows ... yes, marshmallows. He is not allowed to eat anything outside of those 4 items. LOVELY!

Mommy, where are we going?

Does this bandage make me look fat?

Give me love, I am injured!!!

Oh, did I show you my foot?

In other news, check out my Orchid. My Mom bought it for me last Memorial Day and it was beautiful then all the blooms fell off. We were about to toss it out when I decided to give it one more try and it worked.
