Bag It!

Last night I stopped off at Ralph's, a local grocery store, for some provisions. As with most grocery stores they employee special people. This Ralph's boasts the most special person ever. We will call him Mr. Special. I have prior experience with Mr. Special and try to avoid him at all costs. There was the time he tried to impress me with his singing range while waiting in line at the deli. Another time, at the same deli line but a different day, Mr. Special didn't adhere to the personal space rule. He was so close to me he could have read the numbers on my drivers license in my wallet. Last night was no exception and Mr. Special proved himself to be special again.

When choosing a check-out line I specifically looked for the one Mr. Special was not bagging for. Karma bit me in the butt because by the time it was my turn at the register Mr. Special was bagging for my line. I bit my tongue and stuck out my chin even after Mr. Special yelled out, for all to hear, "Gawd, change this song. This person has no talent"!!!! Everyone within a 50 foot radius heard him but we all ignored him. I was still biting my tongue and could taste blood. OK, not really but you get the idea. As my purchased items made their way down the conveyor belt to Mr. Special I knew my patience was about to be put to the test.

Mr. Special (Holding the green tea mints I had just purchased): Are these good?
Me (Biting tongue): I don't know. First time trying them.
Mr. Special: Do you mind if I try one?
Me (Total look of annoyance and astonishment): Yes, I do mind. Just put them in the bag!
Mr. Special: Oh, OK. I just like everything with green tea in it. Green tea beverages, green tea candy, green tea gum ...
I was stunned Mr. Special had the nerve to ask if he can try the mints I had just purchased. Does he ask other customers if he can try their cookies?!?! People never cease to amaze me.

Another Rose Birthday

I want to meet the person who decided the work week would be 5 days and the weekend would last only 2 days. How did they come up with this brilliant equation?!?!?!

Our new dining room set has been taken over by the cats. At any time you can find one or both of the cats relaxing on the chairs. Jack doesn't seem to like sitting on one and many times will spread himself out across two.

I can't imagine this being very comfortable nor would it be good on the back but Jack seems to like it.

Saturday night we attended the FREE Gin Blossoms concert in Constitution Park. Back in the day the Gin Blossoms rocked it. I remember attending the Spin Doctors and Gin Blossoms concert in 1994. They rocked it then and they can rock it now. The highlight of the evening was getting a high-5 from Robin Wilson, the lead singer.

Sunday night we celebrated Mama Rose's birthday. We ate to our hearts content at Claim Jumpers. Did you know it is illegal to walk out of Claim Jumpers hungry?

In a previous post we showed the worlds largest banana split. Below is the smallest ice cream sundae ... heehee!

Be well,

Dog Days of August

Read this post if you dare!

Another weekend has come and gone. Wooosh, gone! Oh to be a pampered dog or cat who can lounge around the house every day. Speaking of dogs, I finished Mojo's sweater this morning. Granted it is still the middle of summer but I was dying to knit him something. Now the only one dying is Mojo ... dying of humility!

Yesterday we took Mojo to a Chihuahua Meet-Up group at a local dog park. I had the hopes that Mojo would make some new friends. Mojo thought differently. He wouldn't leave my side except to run to Richard's side. He wasn't interested in making friends with anyone, two or four legged. I am determined to make him social. Baby steps.

After the dog park we headed out to lunch with The Rose Family but first we stopped off at World Market. Much to Mojo's chagrin we put him in his dog bag and pushed him around in the cart. Turns out dogs aren't allowed in World Market. Hello, then why do they sell doggy items?!?!?

The people at the restaurant and mall were much more understanding and welcomed Mojo with somewhat open arms. At the end of the day we were all exhausted and couldn't wait to lay our heads upon our pillows.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shake, Rattle and Roll

This morning at 12:59a a 4.5 magnitude earthquake rocked SoCal. Although it was felt by many in Ventura County, I am happy to report all is well in Camarillo. In other news, Mojo peed in my face this morning.

Have a fabulous day!

19 Days

Hello!

It has been 19 days since we brought little Mojo home and life is wonderful. Mojo is completely housetrained and for the past few days he has not put up a fight when we put him to bed in his own bed. Knock on wood this is how life with Mojo will always be.

This past weekend Richard and I took Mojo to a park in our neighborhood. Mojo isn't really a "fetch" kind of dog unless it involves the mice that belong to the cats. In any event we took him off leash and threw mini tennis balls for him. He was not interested so Rich and I played catch with each other. A few more dogs showed up at the park and the party was on. Mojo was having a great time until a small boy picked him up and dropped him ... poor baby! We headed home shortly after the incident.

While at the park we had one of those moments where you feel like an absentee dog parent. We were playing with Mojo when a lady showed up with her dog. She said "Oh, that is Mojo, Aaron walks him". Sadly our dog is more times associated with our dog walker than with us. The lady's daughter noticed that Mojo's dog tag had been corrected and informed us Mojo plays with their dog often. We are missing out on so much of our little dogs little life!

Richard says "Be the ball, Mojo"

Well that is all from us for now. This weekend we are hitting up a local dog park to meet some other Chihuahua / Chixs. Don't worry, I will take pictures ... heehee!

Be well,
Asya
